{"id":989,"date":"2012-07-23T02:33:09","date_gmt":"2012-07-23T02:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/?p=989"},"modified":"2012-07-25T02:33:58","modified_gmt":"2012-07-25T02:33:58","slug":"day-12-long-island-on-burritts-rapids-on","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/day-12-long-island-on-burritts-rapids-on\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 12 &#8211; Long Island, ON &#8211; Burritt&#8217;s Rapids, ON"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we followed the Rideau Canal with not much to really talk about except for the pending storm. \u00a0We decided that only after 4 hours of travel that we would stay at Lock which is Burritt&#8217;s Rapids. \u00a0It was darn hot at over 90 degrees so the first thing on our minds \u00a0was a swim in the river. \u00a0Funny, cause it was just us and a couple kids that went in when there must have been 8 boats waiting out the storm.<\/p>\n<p>T showers, clouds, heavy rains didn&#8217;t damper our day. \u00a0The boys went for a hike to see the dam while I started on a glass of wine and watched the storm changing into a major event. Lightning was everywhere. \u00a0The thunder in the distance became very close in a short time. \u00a0The boys wandered \u00a0in soaking wet and that&#8217;s when the rain really came down. \u00a0Heavy droplets that sounded like hail, clouds that were as black as ever with lightning every second or so. \u00a0Actually \u00a0it was quite refreshing to see rain after this much drought.
