Frankford, ON \u2013 Healey Falls, ON (Lock 15)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We were thinking that today we would stop in Campbellford to do some laundry but it was only 3 hours of driving time.\u00a0 So we decided to push on toHealeyFallsat the first lock.\u00a0 The next 2 locks are staircase locks just up from our little spot here in \u201cthe basin\u201d between locks 15 and then 16 and 17.\u00a0 I still need to do laundry but we\u2019ll just wear our bathing suits today.\u00a0 Really cuts down on the laundry loads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Passing through Campbellford we noticed that it would be a great place to be if you want the \u201ccity life\u201d.\u00a0 They have everything right there with enough spots for 50 or more boats.\u00a0 Gas is the cheapest here than anywhere on theTrent.\u00a0 It is the same price as the street price which you don\u2019t see ever.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t see diesel but we\u2019ve been told it is here too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Most of the locks we passed through are rural with only nature around and maybe a mom and pop shop selling ice cream.\u00a0 Now we are here in \u201cthe basin\u201d.\u00a0 We all have been swimming behind the boat where the water is clear and warm with lots of curious fish that look like rock bass.\u00a0 We can have campfires here and buy fire wood to burn.\u00a0 Apparently they don\u2019t sell marshmellows though.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t bring any because who knew we would be having campfires.<\/p>\n<p>I think that fishing for our dinner has a new meaning.\u00a0 The boys are determined to bring in a big one.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t had bass in awhile so that would be a nice change.\u00a0 Scott already has his knife sharp for the carving.\u00a0 The boys went to find the swimming hole with \u201cthe rapids\u201d and look at the power station.\u00a0 That was about 2 hours ago.\u00a0 I think I\u2019m due for a cold brew.\u00a0 That will go great with the sausages that are being cooked over the open fire tonight for dinner.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So they are back now and apparently I missed one of the highlights of the trip.\u00a0 The water levels are low this year and the falls is more of a cascading ankle deep water over layers of rocks.\u00a0 The boys swam across the river and then were at the falls where they were able to stand under the cascading waters and let the water flow over them.\u00a0 They were delighted with the whole experience.\u00a0 Healey Falls is a bit of a walk but worth it.\u00a0 Scott says it was by far the most beautiful and fun thing he has seen on this trip and the kids just loved the whole idea of going under the &#8220;waterfall&#8221;.\u00a0 For those that want to make this their reason for coming here go to the top of the lock at Lock 17 and dock there for the night.\u00a0 It will save several steps to get to the falls.<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We were thinking that today we would stop in Campbellford to do some laundry but it was only 3 hours of driving time.\u00a0 So we decided to push on toHealeyFallsat the first lock.\u00a0 The next 2 locks are staircase locks just up from our little spot here in \u201cthe basin\u201d between locks 15 and then <a href='http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/day-18-frankford-on-healey-falls-on-lock-15\/' class='excerpt-more'>[&#8230;]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1029","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ontario-loop","category-7-id","post-seq-1","post-parity-odd","meta-position-corners","fix"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1029","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1029"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1029\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1034,"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1029\/revisions\/1034"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1029"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1029"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.lapointes.ca\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1029"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
