So the Story begins.........

Scott anxiously awaits, for 13 years, to propose to Brenda.  The day finally came last September, 2004, when Scott decided to look for the ring.  As he is the conscientious fellow he visits several different stores and learns as much about buying a diamond ring as a jeweler himself would.  After safely deciding that he has enough information, and if you ask me, ammunition, to trip up even the best jeweler he set out to find THE RING. 

Visiting jewelery stores is not something that Scott does often.  You might say never, so this is a challenge.  But being the guy that he is, loaded with his ahemmmm, information, he sets out on his journey.  After visiting as many jewelery stores as he can possibly visit he finally buys THE RING from a jeweler.  I won't say which jeweler, PETARS.

Now for the proposal.......

How to propose???????  Weighing several options over in his mind he finally settles on including Aiden in the plans.  You'll have to ask him the several options he was pondering.  Some are quite comical.  Now back to the decision and how to get this two year old to co-operate???? Hmmm.....

And then the set up....

Deciding that it may not be a good idea to give the ring to Aiden, who might eat it, he comes up with a devious plan. 

Brenda gives Aiden a bath every night so Scott figures that will give him time for the major set up.  With everything in place Scott grabs the video camera.  Brenda, of course, thinks it is so nice that Daddy wants to video his little guy is not surprised by the camera.  While stripping Aiden down and getting him in the tub, Scott patiently waits, and waits, and waits.  Aiden loves his bath.  After nearly 1/2 hour in the tub, Aiden is ready for his diaper and jammies.  He is wrapped in his favorite towel and dried off and then brought into the bedroom.  Scott gets ready.  The moment is coming, or so he thought.  As Brenda brings him into the bedroom Scott notices that Aiden has a diaper already on and is getting into jammies.  Hmmm, where did she get that diaper, Scott ponders.  He didn't know that Brenda had a stash of diapers in the bathroom.  You see, Scott had put the engagement ring into the new diaper located in the bag on the change table.  NOW WHAT TO DO!!!!

Aiden is dressed and ready for bed.  Scott must think quickly....bedtime is just around the corner.  Aiden just won't leave Brenda's side tonight.  Ahhhh, an idea.  Scott fills up a glass of water for himself.  Brenda leaves the room, finally, to prepare Aiden's bedtime drink of milk.  When Brenda arrives back in the room she finds Aiden standing there soaking wet.  Aiden says "Daddy, water" as he looks down.  Daddy is nowhere in sight.  Gone. She thinks Scott gave him a drink of water and missed the target.  Brenda smiles and mutters something like "Daddy is a make work project"  and changes Aiden's jammies, not checking his diaper, because of course it was just changed.  Scott is nowhere in sight.  Still gone.  After settling Aiden down and getting him to bed, rather late by this time, Brenda and Scott settle into their bed and start talking about the day.  After much idle chat, Scott says, "Don't you think you should check Aiden's diaper.  It seemed a bit wet."  Brenda says that she just changed it and "not to mention the fact changed his clothes again too.  Thank you very much."  And then more idle talk.  Scott seems convinced that Aiden should get a check of that diaper so Brenda gets up and does not turn the light on.  She goes to Aiden and feels her way to his bed and then slips a hand on the outside of the diaper and figures it is fine.  At this point Scott is waiting because he figures this is it.  She's finally going to change him into that diaper on the change table.  Or so Scott thought.  Brenda shows up back in bed and says that Aiden is fine.  Not wanting to tell Brenda that he just poured a full glass of water down Aiden's pants and ruin the surprise, rolls over and goes to sleep.  As does Brenda. 

At 6:00 in the morning there is a little squeal from Aiden's room that lets Brenda know that he is up for the day.  She goes to Aiden and finds him to be completely soaked.  So she takes the wet diaper and jammies off Aiden, and strips his bed.  Aiden needs a diaper......Brenda goes to the bag on the change table, grabs the diaper and is a little hesitant to open the diaper.  Peeking out from the top of the diaper is all this black stuff.  Brenda thinks that maybe someone from the diaper factory has tampered with the diaper and slowly opens the diaper up to find the words printed in black magic marker, "Will you marry me" with a ring attached, with none other than duct tape.  At first Brenda takes seconds to digest this as she is still thinking that someone at the factory is playing around and then she realizes that it is Scott's handwriting.  Brenda changes Aiden's diaper to another diaper and then takes Aiden into their room to find Scott sleeping.  By this point Brenda can't stop laughing and she and Aiden jump on Scott to awaken him.  Brenda asks what this is all about as Scott slowly wakes up.  Scott puts the ring on her finger and Aiden is right there to witness it. 

And so the story continues..........
